For my creative project, I wanted to look at how mothers are treated in their professional lives. Women who try to have it all often face recriminations for bringing work into their home or for not being in their children’s life enough. However, they are also punished for trying to incorporate their home life into their work one, for example the lack of maternity leave in the US and having to leave work to take care of a sick child. Currently, I’m thinking about writing a short story or a script about an incident in the work place relating to being a mother, perhaps focusing on Lillian Gilbreth as one of the characters, if not the main one.
